All Hallow on the Eve 2026 - Flash Horror Stories - "A Real Horror Story"

I hadn’t realized it, but I was the cause of so many atrocities...

Living the high-life in the heart of New York City, I became a famous horror writer in my mid-thirties. My face was stretched across billboards, uploaded onto the front pages of online articles, with my pen name plastered on novel covers at the fronts of bookstores across the globe.

I had claimed the name of “King”.

My most famous novel describes a photographer who witnesses specters appearing in each of his photographs. Weeks later, a photographer of unknown origin or fame had reached out to my publisher, claiming that they had suddenly undergone the same circumstances as my main character, without rhyme or reason. At first, I shrugged it off.

But then the next statement was made by an artist, who allegedly confirmed that she had visions of dark, bleak, and disturbing beasts in her paintings. And without consent, her hands painted those same beasts onto canvases. Another plotline to a novel that I had published years prior.

Was it possible that my writing became a horrifying reality for others? Honest to God or the Devil below, I never meant for this to become certain. It’s hard to say, and perhaps these people are attempting to promote their own work through my craft. But the list of victims is increasing and are keeping pace with my stories.

And for some reason, supernatural or not, I can’t stop writing them. Because if I stop, I might fall victim to someone else’s horror story…
